Hostels and How They Are Different



Hostels are increasingly popular. Once a inexpensive, dorm style alternative to a hotel, they have evolved into many different styles, and now appeal to more varying age groups than ever before.

For those who have never stayed in a hostel, its a whole new culture and they are quire different from even inexpensive hotels. Hostels are all about being budget- conscious and there are savings for both the guest and the property if things are shared. The rooms are often communal and seem more like barracks or large dormitory facilities rather than individual rooms. In the spirit of sharing, it isnt uncommon to find things like books or cds shared as well. Hostels have a very informal environment as compared to hotels. Since its so communal, there is much more interaction with other guests and less privacy as well. For the person traveling alone, hostels can provide companionship
and a way to meet new people . One issue that some people have who have only stayed in hotels is that of privacy. There isnt much of that to be found and you may hear snoring, sexual activity and just someone returning late into
